Brandon’s heart has always been in Mansfield. The lessons he learned from teachers and staff at Brinkerhoff Elementary School, John Simpson Middle School and Senior High prepared him for university academic rigors and professional life. He credits the mentorship and guidance of Doug Castle, former Simpson principal; Mrs. Christine Jones (Hurst), Brian Garverick, Mrs. Betty Dunn, Mrs. Jean Massey and many others with guiding him to this day.

After suffering a severe spinal cord injury and undergoing major surgery, Brandon
returned to Mansfield with the support and encouragement of family and friends to aid in his continuing recovery.

Currently, Brandon woks at North Central State College as the Student Success Coach/Academic Advisor for TRIO Student Support Services, a U.S. Department of Education-funded program that assists students who are first-generation college students, have low or limited income, or who have a learning, physical or mental disability.

Working with TRIO has special meaning to Brandon because he also is a first-generation college student.

Because of his personal, professional and volunteer experiences, Brandon volunteers to work with young people around the state. His hope is that someone will be encouraged through their interactions and will continue to pursue success inside and outside of the classroom.

Brandon continues to use his God-given abilities and talents to support and inspire students in their quest of higher education. He also is working to establish and endow a scholarship fund to benefit Senior High graduates.

To Brandon, being a TY-Tyger always has meant taking pride in what you do, taking charge of your educational and personal goals and striving for excellence in all aspects of life.
