District Achievement

What has the MCS District accomplished
since 2013 to earn voter support now?
We responded to the “fiscal emergency” designation with determination, making $5 million in painful but necessary cuts during 2013-14 to bring the budget in line with enrollment.
Student success is evident:
Malabar Intermediate School’s fourth-grade Academic Challenge Team placed second among thirty teams in spring 2016.
New initiatives in the visual and performing arts have allowed students to achieve success in this vital learning discipline.
Springmill STEM Elementary School welcomed it first two kindergarten classes in 2016-2017.
The Spanish Immersion School received statewide recognition for academic achievement.
The 2016 graduating class received $2.7 million in postsecondary scholarships.
Teachers have opportunities to excel:
Our special education/pupil services department scored 36 out of 36 by the Ohio Department of Education.
The Malabar strings teacher just received the Outstanding Young Strings Teacher Award from the Ohio String Teachers Association.
Our team of five pre-K teachers received a 5-star rating (the highest available) from the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Job & Family Services, collectively.
The Spanish Immersion School’s team of teachers received a national award for closing the academic gap.
Just announced, we will receive a grant from a local family foundation for special equipment because of the initiative of one adaptive physical education teacher.
Administrative accomplishments:
The State issued a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report which contained no citations, warning or issues.
Technology upgrades have been implemented in all buildings.
In collaboration with the Ohio School Board Association, the District recently solicited candid feedback on a community-wide survey.
Positions of Curriculum Director and Human Resources Director have been restored to bring stability and future academic development.
